Youth activities for December
The season is upon us as we prepare for the coming of the Lord. Our minds whirl with great anticipation as the Advent season unfolds and the Christmas season springs forth. It is in this joy filled dance of anticipatory hope that we invite the local youth to join us in the Tri-Parish activities for December. Week One-We will kick off the first week with a Girls Bible Study at Debbie's office on Dec. 3rd at 7:00 pm. Also on the 3rd from 7 pm until 9 pm, the 8th grade will meet to decorate ornaments at Angie's Craft Shop. On Dec. 4th the Peer Ministers will meet in Debbie's office at 3:30 pm to discuss ideas for the monthly Youth Mass and to plan the December REACH (Jr. High and High School faith session). On Dec. 5th the Adult Leadership team helping with the Dec. Alumni game and the members of the Team for Africa will meet at the J.H.P.B. at 7:00 pm. The focus for the meeting will be about upcoming fundraisers. All members are asked to be present. On December 7th all High School youth are invited to the vigil Mass at St. Mary's for the Immaculate Conception at 7:00 pm. Following the mass we will meet at the J.H.P.B. to watch a Christmas movie, at 10:00 pm, we will go to Adoration at St. Mary's. Hot chocolate will be provided during the movie, please bring your own snacks. On Sunday, Dec. 9, all Jr. High and High School youths are invited to meet at the church parking lot at 4 pm. We will carol from 4:00 until 6:00 pm. Following the singing we will meet at the church office for chili and hot chocolate. If you plan on attending, please bring a crock-pot of chili to share. We will also be doing a white elephant gift exchange. Please bring a wrapped gift to the gathering. It can be anything, the crazier the better! Call if you have questions. Week Two-On Dec. 10th at 7:00 pm the Confirmation candidates will meet at the J.H.P.B. at 7:00 pm. Please bring your books and be prepared to discuss Chapter 3. On Sat. Dec. 15th, the 8th grade Faith Formation class is hosting a Christmas and ornament sale at Angie's Craft Store on Main Street. All proceeds go toward funding future retreats and sponsoring a youth from the Philippines through CFCA. Your support is greatly appreciated! On Dec. 16th, all High School youth are asked to decorate the float for the Light Parade. We will begin decorating at 12:00 pm. The place is not yet determined. Watch the bulletin for information. We will participate in the Light Parade in Cottonwood at 4:30 pm. Please join us as we come together as a community in this festive celebration. Week Three-No youth ministry activities this week. Week Four-On Friday, Dec. 28th, the Team for Africa will be hosting the annual Alumni game at Prairie Middle School. The women's games will begin at 5:00 p.m. The men's games will follow. Please watch the paper for further details. We look forward to seeing you and your friends. Call Debbie if you have questions. On Dec. 29th, the youth will host the monthly Youth Mass at 7:00 pm at St. Mary's for the returning college students. Each High School youth is asked to bring an ornament to the mass (with your name on it). All college youth are reminded to bring their "Joy" ornament (with their name on it) to the mass as well. We will use these to decorate a youth tree during the mass. These ornaments will be returned after the Christmas season. Following the mass all High School and College youth are invited to a pizza feed at the Keuterville Hall. Come and spend some time with your mends as the year comes to a close! Please know, we can't wait to see you! As you can see, the month is filled with many opportunities to grow in faith through engaging activities! Come and see what the season holds.
