Department awarded grant
The Cottonwood Police Department was recently awarded a Homeland Security grant for equipment worth $11,500. Police Chief Terry Cochran said this is the same program through which they received a thermal imager a year ago. This time the equipment provided is a portable video surveillance system which includes a long range camera, 2 fixed focal length color Lip Stick cameras, 1 b/w low light, fixed focal length lipstick camera and a 40 gigabyte removable USB hard drive. Cochran said that this equipment will be shared with other local law enforcement entities, just as the thermal imager has been. He foresees using this to keep an eye on potential trouble areas such as targets for vandalism. The control system is capable of managing up to 4 cameras simultaneously using a touch screen monitor mounted into the lid of the portable system. |
