collect first win of the season
Steven Baerlocher had 4 hits and 5 RBI as the Prairie baseball team knocked off Clearwater Valley 10-0 in a non-league game at Kooskia Monday, March 17. Kyle Daly started the scoring with a one out double. He got moved to third on a groundout by Eric Daly and scored on a passed ball. Ronnie Chandler and Conner Rieman each singled and Baerlocher scored both of them with the first of his four singles for a 3-0 lead in the first inning. In the second inning Seth Guyer led off with a single but was forced at second by Kyle Daly. Eric Daly followed with a walk and the runners moved up on a passed ball. Kyle Daly came home on a stolen base. In the third Rieman walked and moved up on a passed ball. Baerlocher then scored him with a single. Tyler Rogers followed with a single and Baerlocher scored on Guyer’s single. In the fourth Chandler led off with a walk and stole second. He scored on Baerlocher’s third hit of the game. Rogers followed with a 2-out double but Baerlocher was held up at third and C.V. then got out of the inning. In the fifth Prairie scored 3 runs on just 1 hit. Kyle Daly walked, Eric Daly reached on an error and Chandler walked. Kyle Daly scored on a wild pitch, Eric Daly scored on a ground out by Rieman and Chandler scored on Baerlocher’s fourth hit of the game. Chandler pitched for the Pirates and scattered 5 singles with no walks and 6 strikeouts. C.V.’s only scoring threat was in the second inning when they put runners on second and third with only 1 out. A strikeout and a comebacker to the mound got Chandler out of the jam. Prairie had 11 hits in the game led by Baerlocher with his 4 singles and 5 RBI. Rogers had a single and a double, Guyer had 2 singles, Kyle Daly had a double and Chandler and Rieman each had a single. With the win Prairie improves to 1-1 on the season.
