Shumway
wins shot put again
Kyler Shumway stayed unbeaten in shot put competitions this year as he won at the Lapwai Invitational with a mark of 51’6”. Kenneth Enneking fell just short of a top 3 spot with a best of 41’11” good for fourth place. Shumway also took third in the discus at 132’6”, his best mark of the season. Prairie also had 2 relay team finish among the top 3 and a third that just missed. The boys 4x200 team of Jon Rice, Kyle Daly, Devin Schmidt and David Sigler took second with a time of 1:39.9. The medley team of Rice, Schmidt, Sigler and Brock Heath took third in 4:02.7. The 4x100 team just missed third place due to the fact that they were in lane 8 and when Schmidt took the handoff for the third leg he had to swerve to avoid several hurdles put on the corner for the upcoming 300 hurdles that were put in lane 8 instead of just off the track. That cost him precious time and Prairie took fourth behind Lapwai by only .01 in 47.37. Rice, Sigler and Daly were the other 3 team members. For the girls Kaylee Uhlenkott in the shot put was the only top 3 finisher with a second place in the shot put at 37’1”.
