Shumway win at Area Best meet
Devin Schmidt soared to a personal best in the triple jump to win the event at the Area Best Track Meet at Lewiston Thursday, May 8. His mark of 40’ ¾” was about 2 feet better than he had done in a meet all season. Also winning for Prairie was Kyler Shumway in the shot put with a mark of 51’11¼”. Shumway wound up 5th in the discus with a mark of 132’5”. Kenneth Enneking wound up 11th in the discus at 117’8”. Kaylee Uhlenkott took second in the shot put with a mark of 38’4” and was 7th in the discus at 101’4”. Brock Heath finished third in the boys 3200 in 10:43 while Casey Bruegeman was 4th in the girls event in 14:13.0. Betty Clark, fighting an illness, was 7th in the 3200 in 14:58.0. Heath took 4th in the 1600 in 4:57.6 while Clark was 11th in the girls 1600 in 6:36.11. The boys 4x200 relay team of Jon Rice, Kyle Daly, Schmidt and David Sigler took third in 1:36.90. The 4x100 team of the same 4 runners took 5th with no time available. The girls 4x200 team of Kristin Hill, Kayla Lorentz, Katie Nuxoll and NaTosha Schaeffer took 5th in 1:56.17. The 4x100 team of the same four girls was 6th in 55.14. Nuxoll set a personal record in the triple jump of 31’6” and placed 5th. Sigler was 5th in the 300 hurdles with a mark of 43.17 while Schaeffer was 10th in the girls event in 55.74. Mary Shears competed in the 800 and had a time of 2:58.96. Also competing but no time or place available were Schaeffer in the 100 hurdles and the 4x400 team of Schaeffer, Shears, Bruegeman and Amber Frei for the girls and Daly, Schmidt, Heath and Sigler for the boys. The Prairie track teams compete at Kootenai High School this Friday and Saturday in the Regional Track Meet.
