Uhlenkott are Regional champs
Kaylee Uhlenkott repeated as a state champion in the girls shot put and Kyler Shumway made it 3 straight years that a Prairie athlete has won the boys shot put (J.D. Riener won it the past two years).. Uhlenkott’s winning toss of 39’ 10½” on her first throw in the finals, is a personal best and only 3 inches short of the school record set by Cindy Schultz at the state meet in 1978. Shumway’s winning mark was 54’10½” came on his second throw. In all Prairie brought home 9 state medals. Uhlenkott also earned a fourth place medal in the discus with a mark of 106’8”. Discus marks were down due to a strong headwind during the event. Also earning medals for the girls team were the 4x100 and 4x200 relays.
