graduation held
Summit Academy held their fourth graduation ceremony last Friday, June 6 with 7 seniors graduating. After the seniors came onstage Zach Frei gave an invocation followed by Lynn Rehder singing “The Star Spangled Banner.” Salutatorian Anna Osborne gave her salutatory address followed by Lauren Chmelik with her valedictory address. Principal Dave Goeckner and Jerry Wren handed out awards recognizing each senior’s extracurricular activities during their 4 years of high school. They then gave out a Congeniality Award to Anne Osborne; the Excelsior Award to Lauren Chmelik and the Patriot Award to Zach Frei. Bridget Nuxoll then gave the commencement address using J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings to illustrate her advice to the graduates. Frei then closed the ceremonies with the benediction. Scholarship awards the school is aware of for the students amounted to nearly $10,000. Following is a listing of those scholarships by student: Lauren Chmelik: Idaho County Farm Bureau scholarship, $500; LCSC Presidential scholarship, $1000; LCSC Idaho Promise, $600; LCSC Freshmen scholarship, $500. Anna Osborne: UI Academic Acheivement Award, $1500; UI Robert B. Lee Promise, $500; LCSC Presidential, $1000; LCSC Idaho Promise, $600; LCSC Freshman, $500. Lynn Rehder: LCSC Provost, $500; LCSC Idaho Promise, $600. Danielle Stubbers: UI Presidential, $100, renewable; Primeland, $500; Farm Bureau, $500; LEAP Program Grant, $250.
