Museum
awarded $50,000 grant
The Historical Museum at St. Gertrude in Cottonwood, Idaho is pleased to announce that they have received a $50,000 grant from the Laura Moore Cunningham Foundation, Inc. of Boise, Idaho. This amount will be added to the museum endowment account that is building toward a minimum of $1.1 million. The foundation stated in its cover letter, “We evaluated many proposals and decided to support the positive impact your organization is making in our great state. Keep up the good work!” The Historical Museum at St. Gertrude is charged with the responsibility of being a permanent, public, non-profit educational and cultural institution that provides for the systematic collection and preservation of its artifacts. The scope of the museum is the history and heritage of the state of Idaho and the sisters of the Monastery of St. Gertrude. The museum’s endowment account, when ultimately realized, will provide for the continuing preservation, exhibition, and interpretation of a significant portion of the historical heritage of Idaho. It will also help to perpetuate one of the finest educational and cultural resources in the state. The museum serves citizens of all ages. The Laura Moore Cunningham Foundation, Inc. was established in 1964. It supports building/renovation, endowments, equipment, general/operating support, program development, scholarship funds, and seed money to grantees in Idaho only. The Foundation’s contributions over some forty-four years have enhanced the activities of the majority of the educational and cultural institutions throughout the state of Idaho.
