Beginning
band to have 'Jump Start'
There will be a “Jump Start’ meeting for 5th grade beginning band students Monday, August 25, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Middle School Band Room according to John Eynon, music director for the Prairie School District. Information concerning getting started on a band instrument, care and maintenance of your instrument, practice tips for success and classroom expectations will be discussed. Band instrument services will be provided by Keeney Brothers Music for purchase, or rent-to-own new instruments. A limited supply of school instruments will also be available for distribution. A one time service fee of $30 will be applied to use of school instruments to cover adjustments and sanitizing instruments on an annual basis. In the event your child already has an instrument, please be sure a qualified technician looks the instrument over to ensure it is in good playing condition prior to the beginning of the school year. There will also be several “Jump Start” lessons on Tuesday, August 26 to help facilitate a smooth startup for beginning band. Lesson schedule, August 26: 8:30-9:30 a.m.-Flutes; 9:30-10:30 a.m.-Clarinets; 10:30-11:30 a.m.-Saxophones; 12:30-1:30 p.m.-Trumpets; 1:30-2:30 p.m.-Trombones. Find a new home for that orphaned band instrument! Prairie School District’s new music director is looking to adopt any band instruments that have been orphaned and need a new musician to care for them. Do you have a band instrument just taking up closet and storage space with no potential for future performances? Donating an instrument to the school is a very positive way to contribute to the dreams of young aspiring musicians. In the event you would like to sell an instrument in good playing condition, arrangements can be made to market the instrument to another family in the community with a child just beginning music lessons. A beginning band “Jump Start” meeting is planned for beginning band students and their parents on Monday, August 25th at 7:00 p.m. at Prairie Middle School. In the event you would like to donate or sell that used instrument, please drop the instrument off at the school office prior to the day of the meeting. Please clearly label the case with your name, address, phone number and indicate if the instrument is a donation with the value you would like to claim for tax deduction, or indicate the instrument is for sale and list a firm selling price. No money will be exchanged through the school on instruments placed for sale. Potential buyers will contact the selling party directly to make arrangements for payment. Any questions or concerns, please contact Mr. John Eynon by phone: cell# 208-553-5276 or by e-mail: jeynon@hotmail.com |
