Chronicle
owner dead at 72
Patricia E. Wherry, owner of the Cottonwood Chronicle, died last Friday, August 29 at St. Mary's Hospital in Cottonwood. She was 72. In 1975 Patricia and her husband Robert purchased the Cottonwood Chronicle from Lloyd Rose. In 1978 they purchased the Lewis County Herald in Nezperce from longtime owners Chris and Alberta Christensen. After Bob died in 1996, Pat and her two sons, Greg and Steve continued to operate the newspapers. Greg and Steve plan to carry on the family business with Greg at Cottonwood and Steve at Nezperce. A graveside service was held for Pat on Thursday, Sept. 4 (which is why this week's update is a day late) at Cottonwood Community Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Prairie Community Library or the Cottonwood Lions Club for the Lions Club diabetes awareness program. You can send them to the Chronicle address at the right if you wish and Greg will be sure they are sent on to the proper charity. |
