Youth activities for October
As we stand in the air of the changing season our hearts are invited to embrace the invitation of another month filled with newness and opportunity. Our lives seem to be in tune with this constant movement as we plan and prepare for upcoming events, holidays, and sports activities. It is in the midst of these activities I would like to remind and invite the youth to join us as we come together as church to celebrate each other and our God as creator, maker, and mover of all things. On Oct 4th High School youth are invited to attend our monthly Adoration prayer time from 10:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m. @ St. Mary’s church. We will not have a move this month because I will be attending the Called and Gifted presentation at St. Gertrude’s Monastery on Friday evening and Saturday. On Oct. 6th the HS youth are invited to attend the SPAN meeting (Suicide Prevention) at St. Mary’s Hospital at 6:30 p.m. Please call Debbie for details. On Oct. 7th I will be attending a North Central Deanery meeting in Lewiston that is hosted by the Diocese of Boise. On Oct. 8th the Peer Ministers are asked to meet @ Debbie’s office @ 7:00 p.m. to plan the monthly REACH session for the Jr. High youth. On Oct. 13th the Team for Africa will meet @ the JHPB @ 7:00 p.m. to continue planning for their Africa celebration that will take place on Nov. 2nd. On Oct. 15th the Peer Ministers will host the REACH session at the JHPB @ 7:00 p.m., all of the HS and JH youth are encouraged and invited to attend. On Oct. 18th the YM team will host a Back to School Bash in St. Mary’s church parking lot following the 7:00 p.m. mass. We will also have small group sign ups for the school year after the mass. Theses groups give you the opportunity to engage in activities that fit your interest and provide an opportunity for you to come together with other Christian youth to embrace your faith more fully. All Jr. High and High School youth are encouraged and invited to attend. We will have food, fire and music!! On Oct. 20th the small group that is studying Pope John Paul II’s “Theology of the Body,” will meet from 6:30p.m.-9:30p.m. in Debbie’s office. We will have pizza and pop @ 6:30. If you are interested in attending and have not signed up for the group please contact me. On Oct. 22nd all HS and JH youth are invited to our monthly social at the Coffee Mill from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Please bring $5.00, yourself and a friend for a night of food, fun and fellowship. On Oct. 25th all Confirmation candidates are asked to meet in the Sacred Heart Room at St. Mary’s church at 1:00 p.m. to begin their Confirmation process. This retreat is a required retreat for Confirmation. Each Candidate is asked to bring their baptismal certificate and $35.00 for the class, books, and retreats. Please make sure you’ve had lunch before you attend. Dinner will be provided. The retreat will go from 1:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m. All candidates are also asked to attend the 7:00 p.m. mass that evening at St. Mary’s. We will have a blessing rite at the mass as a means of beginning the Confirmation process. I am so excited to begin another year of walking with these young hearts as they grow deeper into their commitment of church, community, and faith. It’s a great journey. We are so blessed by so many things. As this month continues to unfold let us always be mindful of the many opportunities God provides and lays before us as a way of knowing and seeing Him. Thank you for all you do to support the youth of our parishes and communities. Together, through the grace of God, we can and do make a difference.
