Cottonwood Scouts help food bank
The Cub and Boy Scouts of Troop 638 volunteered two Saturdays in a row to assist the local food bank on November 1st and 8th.  Cottonwood Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts picked up 640 lbs. of food for the Food Bank last Saturday.
The Scouts went throughout Cottonwood and Ferdinand and placed bags on the resident’s doors on the 1st with the assistance of Assistant Scoutmaster Rick Workman and Cubmaster Dan Karel.
They met again on the 8th at Assistant Scoutmaster Rick Workman’s residence and divided up into teams, with one team starting on the South end of town and one team starting on the North end of town.  At the same time another group was canvassing Ferdinand to pickup the bags they had distributed the week prior, under the supervision of Committeeman Greg Nau.
By 11:00 the project was complete, the food was weighed and being delivered to the local Food Bank.
The grand total at the end of the project was 640 pounds of food being donated by the citizens of the area and collected and delivered by the Scouts of Troop 638.
These boys worked exceptionally hard to provide this much needed food for our local area and should be proud of their accomplishments.  I would like to thank the parents who donated their time, energy, leadership and vehicles to help make this project a success.
And last but not least, thank you to the communities for helping out tremendously by digging into your cupboards and donating the food to assist everyone in the community.
