Pirates shut out Deary 22-0, advance to state title game; Grangeville team wins Night Shoot
The Prairie Pirates recorded their second shutout of the state playoffs as they knocked off Deary 22-0 Friday, Nov. 14 at the Kibbie Dome in Moscow. That puts them into the state championship game against Oakley, which is set for this Friday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. also at the Kibbie Dome.
It’s finally decided. We have chosen a winning team. Actually everyone who showed up and participated in these foul weathered evenings are winners.  But for high score for the six weeks goes to "Our Team" from Grangeville with a 1215 for score. . . .

Summit releases high school honor roll; Summit girls win New Meadows tourney
Summit Academy released honor roll and perfect attendance lists this past week with results as follows: . . .
Opening their new season with a bang last weekend, Summit Academy girls traveled to New Meadows for their annual Kickoff Tourney there, and came away with two relatively easy victories to bring home the championship plaque, a repeat of achievements attained by the Summit girls several times in the past. . . .

Richard Jacobs VFW Post 4902 has announced the winners of their annual academic contests. Winners of the Voice of Democracy were Margaret Yalbuw, 1st; Kristine Poxleitner, 2nd and Dustin Lustig, 3rd. Winners of the Patriots Pen essay contest were Sarah Chmelik, 1st; Dan Wemhoff, 2nd; and Julia Osborne, 3rd. Poxleitner is a student at Prairie High School while the rest are all students at Summit Academy.Patty Hinkelman was chosen as Teacher of the Year. She teaches at Prairie High School. First place winners will advance to competition at the District level. In the top photo are the Summit students. From left they are Sarah Chmelik, Margaret Yalbuw, Dustin Lustig, Dan Wemhoff and Julia Osborne. In the lower photo are the winners from Prairie, Kristine Poxleitner, left, and teacher of the year Patty Hinkelman.


Over 60 students from high schools throughout North Central Idaho participated in the band concert. Music was demanding and challenging, and all of students rose to the occasion with an outstanding community concert. Selections included a John Phillip Sousa March, "Free Lance March", and a newly commissioned composition, "Idaho Celebration", along with several other inspiring pieces. Kyle Daly breaks free for a 49 yard run that set up Prairie's second touchdown against Deary. Prairie plays Oakley in the State Championship game Friday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. at the Kibbie Dome in Moscow.
