Summit
boys dominate Nezperce
Despite too frequent turnovers, seventeen in all, Summit control of the boards and tenacious defense were major factors resulting in a 55 to 31 win for the Cottonwood school, game played at the Prairie High gym last week. Chase Nuxoll led the way in the war on the boards with 19, followed closely by David Johnson’s 15 off the bench, and Dustin Lustig’s 11 from his point guard position. The rebounding effort was aided by a smothering defense by the Patriots which held the visiting Indians to two points in the second quarter, and six in the third. Steals also played a part in the victory, with Dylan Prigge’s eight and Josh Frei’s five leading the way. On the offensive side, Summit scorers were as follows: Lustig-9, Johnson-18, Prigge-17, Nuxoll-6, and Frei-5. Joseph Lustig also played well on defense, but added no scoring statistics in this game. Scoring for Nezperce, unable to capitalize on thir three-shooting abilities during this game: Chris Riggers-4, Caleb Carpenter-2, Damon Leitch-10, Jordan Killmar-2, Isaac Fuchs-5, and Sawyer Wahl-8. The win raised the Patriot record to 7 and 4 with action for both the Summit boys and girls scheduled this Monday and Tuesday at CV’s invitational tournament. Other teams competing there include Deary, Timberline, Potlatch and CV.
