School superintendent answered questions
The Cottonwood school district will encumber a $450,000.00 deficit for the upcoming school year. (09-10) The board of trustees and the administrators have been working diligently trying to make up this difference with out hindering the excellent product that it produces. Winners of Idaho County Farm Bureau's Essay Contest were all from Prairie Middle School this year. The theme "Idaho Agriculture - Making a Difference" encouraged to students to learn about Agriculture to be able to write the winning essays. First place went to Brandon Higgins, left, son of Brad & Cindy Higgins, Cottonwood. He received $50. Second place went to Ashlee Stubbers, center, daughter of Dale & Jeanne Stubbers, Winona. She received $25. Third place winner was Lauren Alfrey, right, daughter of Pat Alfrey, Ferdinand, receiving $15. All three essays were forwarded to District level, the winning essay there will go on to State. Good luck, students, and Congratulations to you.

A house by St. Mary’s Hospital was recently purchased by a Cottonwood couple to serve as a temporary place to stay for the patients and families of SMHC.  ‘The Neighbors’ is available at no charge and can be reserved through the SMH nurses station. See article at left
