Schmidt win events
Kyler Shumway won both the shot put and discus and took third in the 100 meter dash in an 11-school track meet at Lapwai Thursday, March 26. Devin Schmidt won the 100 meter dash and had 2 seconds and a third in his other 3 events. Shumway won the shot put with a throw of 53’8” on what was his only legal throw. He won the discus with a mark of 137’4”. In the 100 meter dash his time of 11.9 was good enough for third. Schmidt won the 100 meter dash in 11.6 and was second in the 200 in 24.1. In his first ever competition in the discus he took second with a throw of 121’4”. He took third in the triple jump at 37’11¾”. Brock Heath took second in the 3200 with a time of 10:38.2 and Justin Schmidt was third in the 1600 with a time of 5:24.0. As a team the boys took third place behind Troy and Grangeville. The only girls team member to finish in the top 3 was Katie Nuxoll who took third in the triple jump with a mark of 30’8¼”. Shot putter Kaylee Uhlenkott did not compete at the meet. As a team the girls placed 8th.
