is double event winner at White Pine meet
Kyler Shumway won both the shot put and discus at the White Pine Meet at Lapwai Tuesday, April 21. He recorded his best shot put competition toss in the state of Idaho as he won with a mark of 5811. His discus winning mark was 13810. The girls team had 4 event winners. NaTosha Schaeffer won the 110 hurdles in 17.60, Kaylee Uhlenkott won the shot put with a mark of 36 even and Katie Nuxoll won the triple jump with a mark of 329½. Also the 4x200 relay team of Kristin Hill, NaTosha Schaeffer, Nuxoll and MaKayla Schaeffer won in a time of 1:53.65. Team wise the boys tied for second place with Timberline with 85 points while the girls team place 5th with 83 points. Devin Schmidt placed in 4 different events as he was 2nd in the 200 meter dash in 24.12, third in the 100 in 11.79, 2nd in the discus at 1328 and third in the triple jump at 389. The boys 4x200 meter relay team placed third in 1:45.59. Also placing for the girls were MaKayla Schaeffer, who took second in the high jump at 46 and the 4x400 relay team which placed 2nd in 4:45.15. Distance runner Brock Heath didnt compete due to illness. Four win events at Kamiah Invitational Kyler Shumway, Devin Schmidt, Kaylee Uhlenkott and Katie Nuxoll all picked up wins at the Kamiah Invitational Track Meet last Friday, April 24. Shumway won the shot put with a mark of 574 and was second in the discus with a personal best of 1445. Schmidt won the triple jump with a mark of 413 and was third in the discus at 1311. Uhlenkott won the shot put with a season best mark of 376. Nuxoll won the triple jump with a mark of 324. Brock Heath took third in the 1600 in 4:53.0. His time was the same as for second place finisher Austin Blain of Timberline who barely held off Heaths late charge at the finish. The boys team also had relay teams place in the 4x100 and 4x200. The same group of Shumway, Heath, Ryan Dalgliesh and Schmidt competed in both events. In the 4x200 Prairie finished third in 1:38.2 and in the 4x100 Schmidt took the baton for the anchor leg in third place and nearly caught the winning Pomeroy team as Prairie took second in 47.7. The girls 4x100 and 4x200 teams both took third in 54.0 and 1:52.8 respectively. Kristin Hill, NaTosha Schaeffer, Katie Nuxoll and MaKayla Schaeffer were the competitors in both relays. MaKayla Schaeffer also took second in the long jump with a mark of 152. As a team the boys placed 6th out of 12 teams with 59 points and the girls placed 5th out of 12 teams with 57 points.
