Middle School awarded grant
Prairie Middle School was one of 44 schools in the state of Idaho to be awarded a grant by the State Department of Education to help purchase new school lunch equipment.
Prairie Middle School received an award of $8,928.33. These funds are part of nearly $500,000 the state received from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 to help Idaho schools purchase new school lunch equipment for the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs, admin-istered through the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The funds will be used to purchase a new 2-door refrigerator and a new dishwasher.
Prairie school lunch administrator Lynn Rehder said they had applied for 2 grants totaling $30,000 but feel very fortunate to get the one they did. The 44 grants awarded state-wide were out of 205 applications totaling more than $3 million.
