youth activities for September
Dear Teens in Christ, Ok, all of you beach babies, it’s time to shake off the sand and get back to the routine of life. The Youth Ministry Team would like to invite you to join us this year as we begin another season of faith through providing you opportunities to grow in you Christian identity. In September we will be hosting a 30 Hour Fast, Adoration, small group studies, socials and Liturgy. You can become more through finding out who you are as we gather together as a family of God. On Sept. 2nd the Peer Ministry Team will meet @7:00 p.m. in Debbie’s office to discuss and plan for future REACH sessions. (REACH will begin in Oct.) No School on Sept. 7. Have a safe and enjoyable Labor Day! On Sept. 9th and 28th a girls small group dating study will take place in Debbie’s office @ 7:00 p.m. Jenna Murdock will be facilitating this group. All H.S. girls are encouraged to attend. On Sept. 11 all of our HS youth are invited to participate in our annual 30 Hour Fast. The Fast gathering will begin @ 7:00 p.m. @ the Junior High Peace Building and end at the 5:00 p.m. mass in Ferdinand on Sat. Sept. 12h. You are asked to stop by Debbie’s office and get an information sheet and a permission slip and also bring a cardboard box for sleeping in on Friday night. The cost of the Fast is $30.00 which you can get in donations for completing the fast. Please bring your money with you on Friday. All money will go toward Catholic Relief Services and World Vision as a way of standing in solidarity with the poor of the world. We will attend Adoration @ 10:00 p.m. as part of our Fast journey. This is a great opportunity to stand with our brothers and sister throughout the world, so come and join us on this sacred journey. On Sept. 16th the small group study of “Theology of the Body: will meet in Debbie’s office @ 7:00 p.m. Pizza will be provided at 6:30. All H.S. youth are invited and welcome to join. I will be gone from Sept. 18-20 to the Diocesan Fall Conference in Boise. Please pray for the church gathered as we come together from throughout the state to learn and grow in our Catholic faith. On Sept 26th we will have our first Youth Mass @ St. Mary’s @ 7:00 p.m. The Prairie Faith Formation classes will be in charge of hosting the mass during the 2009-2010 school year. Come and join our youth as we come together as a church in faith and love. Following the Mass we will have a “Back to School Bash” in the church parking lot. We will have food, fire, and fun Fiesta style. (Young and old, bring your guitars for an evening jam.) Everyone is welcome. (On Sept 23rd we will also have Conformation Sign Up available at the entrances of all the churches. You must be 16 or a Sophomore in High School to be confirmed. Classes will begin in October. Call Debbie for more info 962-7761).All Junior High and High School youth are invited to our monthly game night at the Coffee Mill on Sept 30th.) We will have games, food, and drinks. Please bring $5.00. The fun begins @ 6:30 and goes until 8:30. Bring a friend. We look forward to seeing you! I know that life can be really busy as school begins, but we would really love it if you could stop by in Sept. And visit, maybe just come and see what this Youth Ministry stuff is all about. I think you would be surprised at what Jesus and the church has to offer in the midst of your busy life and schedule.
