Seubert
Selway reunion held
Descendants of Almira and the late John W. Seubert gathered recently at their Selway cabin for the 36th annual Seubert Selway family reunion the weekend of Aug 14-16. Thirty-seven direct descendants, married relatives, and guests of the four daughters-Sharon Anderson, Diane James, Sally Hooker, and Patricia (Patsy) Smyth-were in attendance along with their mother, Almira Seubert. The theme for this year’s reunion was “God Bless America and our Family”. The main celebration followed Saturday night’s “gathering” dinner. Almira’s great-grandchildren paraded the flag and the Pledge of Allegiance was said, followed by the singing by all of “God Bless America.” Master of Ceremonies was Sally Hooker. Great-granddaughter Jenny Wilbur on the acoustical guitar provided entertainment. The celebration honored Almira’s grandson, Lt. Col Brian James of the Oregon Army National Guard (currently deployed to Iraq) and his wife, Jill and their three sons (Zachary, Justin, and Ryan) who were all in attendance. The patriotic event ended with the singing of Lee Greenwood’s popular song “Proud To Be An American.” James deployed to Iraq Lt.
