Prairie
to play Wallace in semifinal on Friday
The Pirates’ second round opponent in the 1-A division 1 state football playoffs will be an old Central Idaho League foe, the Wallace Miners. The game is set for Friday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. at the Kibbie Dome in Moscow. The only common opponent is Potlatch which Wallace beat last Saturday 52-44 for their first ever 1- A state tournament win. They had been drubbed by the second place White Pine League team each of the previous 5 years since they had dropped down from the 2-A level. Prairie knocked off Potlatch 59-8 in a game that ended at halftime. Wallace brings a 7-3 record into the game. The lost twice to unbeaten 1-A division 2 power Kootenai 26-58 and 6-44 and lost to Gar-Pal of Washington 22-26. Gar-Pal had dropped from 11-man to 8-man after the season started due to a low turnout. Wallace’s regular season wins were 50-0 and 30-24 over Clark Fork; 70-50 and 22-8 over Mullan and 22-18 and 42-40 over Lakeside. Wallace is mostly a running team that runs I formation with either 2 tight ends or 1 wide receiver and has a good balance of power, size and speed. |
