HOSA
News
By Danielle Cochran
You have probably seen many PHS students helping people around the prairie
area wearing medical related clothing. Those kids you have been seeing
are all a part of Prairie’s HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America)
group. The reason you have been seeing all of us is because we are
working on getting all of our volunteer time completed. This is 20
hours by March 1, 2010. Lately we have been volunteering our time
at the local Blood Drives by escorting the donors from the stations to
the recovery area, as well as serving water and assisting with set up and
tear down. We really appreciate the opportunity to help with the
Blood drives due to the volunteer time we receive as well as a peek at
a part of the medical field. Many of the HOSA students also helped
out with the Ferdinand Parish Dinner a few weeks ago, where they were servers
and greeters. Finally we have had an opportunity to help the Monastery
again this year with helping them fold/send letters and cards. We
extend our thanks to everyone who has given us opportunities on completing
our volunteer hours. If anyone ever has something they need done
and would like help with please feel free to contact Sheri Daly or any
of the other HOSA members. We would be grateful for the opportunity.
Thanks to everyone who bought Papa Murphy’s Pizzas from us this
past week. Thanks to all of you who bought, we are now even closer
to having state competition paid for. Our group sold and delivered
158 pizzas. Also thank you to Papa Murphy’s for making all for the
pizzas. We really appreciate everything the community has been doing
to help send us to state and hopefully nationals.
