win Orofino Tournament
The Prairie Wrestling team took first place at the Orofino Tournament with 2 individual champions Friday and Saturday, Jan. 15-16 at Orofino. Prairie had 133 points to edge out the Lewiston JV by 4 points for the team title. Freshmen Alex Duman at 112 lbs. and Kade Perrin at 125 lbs. each won individual titles. Duman defeated teammate Tayler Heitman by a 4-2 decision for the 112 title. Perrin defeated Nick Smith of Grangeville by pin. In addition to Heitman, Tyrell Langston earned a 2nd place finish as he lost to Codi Clark of McCall 4-2 in the 160 lb. championship match. Earning 3rd place finishes were Tyler Ross at 103 lbs., Damian McWilliams at 130 lbs., and Mitch Jungert at 285 lbs. Ross won by pin in the third place match while McWilliams won by injury default over John Cox of Union, Oregon. Jungert won by pin over Henry Kanoho of Imbler, Oregon. Finishing in 4th place was Brandon Poxleitner who lost a 6-8 decision to Alex Kygar of Grant-Union.
