Summit
boys win District opener, regular season finale; Summit girls 4th at Hallissey;
Summit boys awarded Hallissey Sportsmanship trophy
The Summit Academy Patriots jumped out to a 12-1 lead and were never
really threatened as they rolled past Highland 62-30 in their District
Tournament opener Monday, Feb. 15 at the LCSC Activity Center in Lewiston.
. . .
The Summit Patriots trailed at halftime but blitzed Highland in the
third quarter to pull away for a 79-57 win at Craigmont Thursday, Feb.
11. . . .
Patriot girls dropped their first contest to a local Nezperce coalition,
but managed to battle back through the losing bracket, winning three straight
games to enter the annual Hallissey semifinals, but fatigue and a matchup
with eventual tourney champs St. Mark’s ended the hope the girls had for
bringing back a trophy. . . .
Traveling to Boise this past weekend to participate in the annual Hallissey
tourney sponsored by the Diocese of Boise, Summit’s boys managed only one
win in three attempts, but were selected by the tourney managers to be
the recipient of the Sportsmanship award. . . .

The Summit Lady Patriots will play North Gem in their
State Tournament opener Thursday, Feb. 18 at 6:15 p.m. MDT at Nampa High
School. North Gem was ranked 5th in the state media poll last week while
Summit was ranked 3rd. Each team has 5 losses on the season. If Summit
wins they will play again at 3 p.m. MDT on Friday. With a loss they would
play at 8 p.m. MDT Friday. They would play either Meadows Valley or Carey
in the second round. The winners bracket games are in the afternoon because
the 1-A Div. 2 championship game is at 9:30 a.m. Saturday and it
was felt they needed the extra turnaround time. The consolation final is
at 9:15 a.m. Saturday with the third place game at 11 a.m. Both of those
games are at Nampa High School while the championship game will be at the
Idaho Center. See bracket above. Click on it for a larger view. All times
are Mountain time.
