Summit girls win consolation, sportsmanship trophies at State; Summit boys lose to Nezperce at District
The Summit Lady Patriots lost their state opener but came back with a pair of wins to earn the school’s first ever state trophy this past weekend at Nampa High School at the state 1-A Division 2 tournament. . . .
Playing at LCSC Saturday, Feb. 20, Summit boys eased out to a 15-8 lead gave over rival Nezperce in the second quarter, in a winner’s bracket contest of Division II rivals, but then endured the wheels falling off, as the Indians put together a 20 point plus run to take what proved to be an insurmountable lead. . . .
Update--The Summit boys beat Highland Wednesday, Feb. 24, to stay alive at District. They play Nezperce again on the Indians home floor this Friday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. . . .

Ten students qualified to participate in the annual district spelling bee.  Mr. Deiss seated students by drawing names out of a hat.  The first round was a trial run and all students were given a word, asked to say it, spell it and then say the word once again.  The groups proceeded until Andy Gehring, left, was the final winner and Heidi Holubetz was runner up.  Andy moves on  to the regional bee in Lewiston at LCSC on March 6.
