The final session of the Prairie Community Library
Summer Reading Program was on Thursday Aug 5th. Lydia Deiss was our
guest reader. The kids enjoyed the stories she read to us.
We learned how to use food coloring to color sand and make sand art.
All the kids received prizes, but the grand prizes of mesh tote bags were
awarded to the kids who turned in the most reading time. Thanks to
all of our guest readers and teen and parent volunteers who helped make
this program so enjoyable for the kids. Photo provided by Aleta Coppernoll.

Members of "Team Gabbie" gathered for a picture at
the Raspberry Festival at the Monastery of St. Gertrude. 35 members
of the team wore their "Team Gabbie" shirts and most participated in the
Fun Run. "Team Gabbie" was formed as a support network for Gabbie
Rehder and educational outreach about mitochondrial disease.
Gabbie, age 14, was diagnosed with Kearns-Sayre syndrome: a rare, incurable, progressive,
degenerative mitochondrial disease. Gabbie plans to go to Lourdes,
France, with her family in November on a healing pilgrimage. To learn
more about "Team Gabbie" or to order "Team Gabbie" shirts, contact Jeannette
Wilcox at j2wilcox@q.com
