Pirates lose to Grangeville
The Prairie Lady Pirates lost 26-61 to Grangeville in their home opener last Thursday, Nov. 18. Two other home games against Culdesac and Orofino were cancelled and no makeup dates have been set as yet. In the game against Grangeville Prairie was outscored in every quarter by the 2-A Bulldogs who threw full-court pressure at Prairie in the first quarter to take a 7-19 advantage. They eased off on the press but still managed to build their lead throughout the game as Prairie trailed 12-31 at the half and 18-44 after three quarters. MeShel Rad led the Pirates in scoring with 9 points while Taylor Heitman scored 6, Kendal Schumacher 5, MaKayla Schaeffer and Kayla Johnson 2 each and Megan Sigler and Tanna Schlader 1 each. With the loss Prairie drops to 0-2 on the season. In a sign that things may turn around against Grangeville in the future the JV team dominated the Bulldogs 25-12.
