couple in car accident
Greg and Colleen Sonnen of Cottonwood were involved in a 2-vehicle car accident Saturday, Dec. 18 at about 9 a.m. just north of Winchester on Highway 95. According to the incident report by the Idaho State Police, Janet M. Beard, 62, of Lewiston was driving a 2000 Ford Explorer southbound at mile post 281.8 in a straight stretch when for unknown reasons she lost control of the vehicle and crossed over into oncoming traffic. The Sonnens, in a 2010 Toyota 4-Runner, were traveling north bound and was impacted head on by Beards vehicle. The impact of Beards vehicle pushed Sonnen’s vehicle up onto the guard rail. Both vehicles came to rest in the middle of the highway blocking both lanes of travel. Beard was deceased at the scene. The highway was blocked for approximately 3 hours. Beard was wearing a lap belt. The Sonnens were transported by Nezperce and St. Mary’s Ambulances to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lewiston where Greg Sonnen was listed in fair condition as of Monday, Dec. 20 and Colleen was listed in critical condition. |
