Kathy
Seubert is employee of the year
After the ballots were cast and carefully counted Kathy Seubert, RN, Director of Nursing Services at St. Mary’s Hospital was selected as the Employee of the Year. Each SMHC employee received a ballot in December listing the 12 Employees of the Month for 2010. Although it was close, Kathy collected the majority of votes. The honor was announced at an employee appreciation event in December. Kathy was originally hired as a night staff nurse in July, 1989. In 2010 she was appointed DNS replacing Iris Hawley, RN, who assumed the role of Quality Improvement Coordinator for SMH and Clearwater Valley Hospital. Kathy continues to serve as Case Manager and Utilization Review. “Employee of the Year celebrates just one individual’s accomplishments, but one person cannot accomplish much without the help of many other employees doing excellent work. Everyone in each individual office, each department and each shift deserves applause for the work they have committed their lives to,” said Kathy. “My personal values direct me in my work at SMH. Every day I thank God for giving me guidance in my heart and hands to help others in need.” As DNS she supervises the hospital nursing staff to ensure quality of care for inpatients. As Case Manager, Kathy evaluates patient needs prior to discharge and helps arrange resources as they go home or transfer to another setting. In her role with Utilization Review, Kathy notifies private and public insurance companies of admits and discharges. In her 21 year tenure at SMH she not only has worked every shift, but in almost every field, including labor and delivery, OR and ER. She served as charge nurse and as medical floor coordinator. At the December employee appreciation dinner honoring the 12 employees of the month and other nominees, Kathy thanked her fellow employees and added a special thank you to Iris Hawley for acting as her mentor. “I would not be up here right now if it weren’t for everyone I’ve worked with over the years throughout the whole organization. I want to specially thank Iris for acting as my mentor and preparing me for the job I do today.” Kathy decided to become an RN as a little girl after listening to her great aunt relate stories about the wonderful things she accomplished as a nurse. I also let God direct my path in college and He directed me to care for the sick, said Kathy who gives a lot of credit to her mother for her support throughout the years. Kathy was born and raised in Cottonwood where she lives with her husband, Ken, and daughter, Sarah. SMHC 2010 Employees of the Year were Cheri Holthaus, Human Resources; Connie Killmar, Kamiah Medical Clinic; Lucy Trautman, CNA; Tina Fernandez, CMA, Cottonwood Clinic; Collette Schaeffer, Business Office; Pat Forsmann, Central Supply; Debbie Rose, Housekeeping; Kevin Conger, Dietary Manager; Jim Severson, Purchasing; Stacie Jackson, Medical Secretary, and Lorraine Nuxoll, LPN. |
