take first at Pomeroy
Three Prairie wrestlers took first place in their weight class at the Pomeroy Wrestling Tournament Wednesday, Jan. 29. Tyler Ross at 103 lbs., Alex Duman at 112 lbs. and Tayler Heitman at 119 lbs. all took first. Kade Perrin at 130 lbs. and Mitch Jungert at heavyweight each took 2nd and Damien McWilliams placed 4th. As a team Prairie took 4th place out of 11 teams. 103 lbs.-Tyler Ross won by technical fall over Roman Cox of Pullman, 15-0 then won by pin over Logan Weber of Kittitas, Wash., to take first place. 112 lbs.-Alex Duman won by 10-2 decision over Jose Marin of Kittitas and then pinned Jared Lemmon of Heppner, Ore. to take first. 119 lbs.-Tayler Heitman won by pin over both Tommy Woltering of Pullman and Lincoln Haas of Pateros, Wash. 130 lbs.-Kade Perrin won by pin over Tyler King of Pomeroy then defeated Julian Avalos of Kittitas 3-1 in overtime. In the championship he lost 2-6 to Luis Padilla of Kittitas to take 2nd. 135 lbs.-Damien McWilliams won by pin over Wade Matthews of Heppner then lost by pin to Cesar Espinoza of Kittitas. He won b pin over Nick Tewalt of Pomeroy to reach the consolation final where he lost by pin to Jarreid Miller of Heppner to finish fourth. 285 lbs.-Mitch Jungert won by pin over Jacob Moore of Heppner then lost by pin to Nate Sorenson of Kittitas to take second. Team scores: Kittitas 187, Pomeroy 137, Grangeville 111, Prairie 109, Heppner 106, Pateros 61, Pullman 57, Potlatch 52, Colfax 51, Clearwater Valley 31, Garfield-Palouse 16.
