Three
take first, three take second at Kamiah
The Prairie wrestling team had 6 wrestlers competing in the Kamiah Invitational Tournament with 3 of them finishing in first place and the other 3 taking second. Tyler Ross at 103 lbs., Tayler Heitman at 119 lbs. and Kade Perrin at 130 lbs. each earned a first place medal as all three went unbeaten during the tournament. Alex Duman at 112 lbs., Damian McWilliams at 135 lbs. and Mitch Jungert at 285 lbs. each lost just once and earned second place medals. Perrin was named the outstanding wrestler of the tournament in the 103-140 lb. weight classes. The tournament used a team dual format and to get something close to a full team, Prairie combined with Clearwater Valley and the combo team took second place with each school receiving a second place team trophy. In the dual against Garden Valley/Cascade Ross won by pin over Mark Hagan of GV, Perrin pinned Ben Nunez of Cascade and McWilliams pinned Blaze Gray of G.V. Duman, Heitman and Jungert each won by forfeit. In the dual against Orofino Duman pinned Walker Riggar and Perrin pinned Tanner Schwartz. McWilliams pinned Dustin Meuser of McCall-Donnelly and Jungert pinned Trevor Hopkins of Orofino. Some teams with more than one wrestler in the same weight class loaned out their extras to other teams to fill spots and give everybody as many matches as possible. Ross and Heitman each won by forfeit. Against Kamiah Heitman pinned Anthony Lott, Perrin beat Ryan Simler 7-5 and McWilliams beat Kole Ringen 8-2. Ross, Duman and Jungert each won by forfeit. Against Tri-Valley (Cambridge-Midvale), Perrin pinned Wes Hopkins and McWilliams beat Josiah Jaeger 12-5. Mauer. Lewiston was the only team to defeat the Prairie-C.V. team. In the Wallace match Ross pinned Tyler Curl. Duman pinned Mike Carey. Heitman pinned Colton Majszak. Perrin pinned Skylar Wilburn. McWilliams suffered his only loss, to Kidman Cook, 5-8, and Jungert pinned Brandon Wilburn.
