Preschool
screenings set
Research has proven that if problems are dealt with early in a child’s development, later problems in school will be reduced or eliminated. Free Well Child Development Screenings will be provided to all children ages birth to 5 years of age by the Cottonwood School District on May 5, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., at the School District Office at the Elementary School. Each child’s skills will be checked in the areas of speech and language, motor development, basic concepts, social skills and self-help skills. The children will be asked to participate in play activities, which will determine developmental levels. If an area of need is discovered during the screening, a team of school district professionals offers a full developmental assessment. The Head Start staff will be available to take applications for the Head Start program as well. (Proof of income is required for Head Start.) Screening appointments may be made and further information obtained through the Cottonwood School District at 962-3122.
