Summit Academy celebrates Mother's Day
Summit Academy celebrated Mothers’ Day with not only a tribute to all mothers but also to Mary, our Blessed Mother.  On Friday, May 6th parents and grandparents were invited to come to school to attend Summit Academy’s annual May Crowning.
The Blessed Mother statue was center stage with the student chairs in a huge circle surrounding her and guest chairs outside the circle.  At 1:30, the procession of students entered singing “On This Day, Oh Beautiful Mother.”   They formed a tunnel to Mary through which the kindergarten students, carrying candles walked through.
Makayla Rose, the chosen kindergarten student, carried up the Blessed Mother’s crown and placed it on her head while all watched.   The afternoon continued, with the students participating in a living rosary.  Each student, 12th – kindergarten, placed a flower by Mary after saying their particular prayer.  Between decades, marian hymns were sung.  Our two Seniors, Jamie Chmelik and Rachel Wemhoff then each read a poem in honor of mothers and grandmothers.  Mothers Day gifts were given out along with flowers for grandmothers.  The event concluded with refreshments.   We want to thank all those who made this event a beautiful event.
