Foundation awards grant
The Community of St. Gertrude has been awarded a $2,500 grant from the Avista Foundation. The Community of St. Gertrude in Cottonwood, Idaho, is a major employer on the Camas Prairie with an historical museum, convention center and historic chapel and monastery. The grant will support the replacement of a 50-year-old water line that carries water to the community primarily for fire protection of the historic and educational structures and those who use them. They also provide water to Prairie High School. “We are very pleased to make these grants through our foundation. All too often the educational and community resources in rural areas are stretched beyond capacity. Avista is proud to be an active partner with these groups in the communities we serve,” said Dennis Vermillion, president of Avista Utilities and member of the Board of Directors of the Avista Foundation.
