# 11, Riley Way, the son of Linc and Heather Way of Lewiston, pitched a complete 2-hit game in the 2nd game  of
the best of 3 finals held at the Hayden field in Hayden Lake this past
weekend. The score of the game was 11-0. They were playing for the Little
League State Championship Banner in the 12/Under division.
Play started on Friday night, where they lost the first game of the series 9-7 in extra innings to the West Ada All-Stars from the Boise area. The next day, Riley pitched the entire game in the 11-0 blow-out to those same West Ada All-stars, setting up the final match between these two All-Star teams with bragging rights to the #1 12/Under Little League Title in the State of Idaho. The Lewiston All-Stars found themselves in a deep hole the top of the 4th inning, 0-8. That’s when the bats and legs came to life for these boys. At the end of regulation, (6 innings) the score was tied 9-9. The Lewiston All-Stars were up to bat in the top of the 7th, where they scored two runs. Then, their defense, which played tough those last two innings, were put to the test one more time. When the dust cleared, the mound of boys piled on the field in celebration were the Lewiston All-Stars, having held the opposing team scoreless, winning the final game by a score of 11-9. In addition to winning the Idaho State 12/Under title, the Lewiston All-Stars will now compete in the Western Regional’s in San Bernardino, California starting August 4th with a spot to the Little League World Series in Pennsylvania on the line! The team will fly out on August 2nd. To help defray team expenses, the team is holding a silent auction/BBQ on Sunday, July 31st at Pioneer Park in Lewiston from 1 – 4 PM to raise money to send the team to California. Linc is the head coach of the Lewiston All-Stars. Riley is the grandson of very proud grandparents Hank and Marie Lerandeau of Cottonwood and Kyle and Joan Way from Lewiston.
