Konen celebrates Golden Jubilee
On July 9 approximately 400 family and friends gathered at the Sacred Heart Catholic Parish in Seattle, to help Father Lyle Konen, C.S.s.R. celebrate his Golden Jubilee of ordination at a Special Mass concelebrated with the Most Rev. J. Peter Sartain, Archbishop of Seattle, Father William Clearly (a friend since 1951), Father William Peterson (who has many relatives in the Cottonwood area) and 5 other priests and friends. A number of Father’s nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews were honored to be ministers at this wonderful Mass. The musicians were members of the Choir of St. Catherine of Seina and Our Lady of the Lake Parishes. Following Mass there was a reception and luncheon at the Sandpoint Country Club, which was hosted by friends and family of Father Lyle. At the reception the crowd sang Happy Birthday to Father since it was his 80th birthday. Attending this celebration was his sister, Sadona Lute, from Kennewick, who celebrated her 86th birthday Sunday, and brother Milton and Lorraine Konen from Walla Walla. Also attending were family members from Wisconsin, Idaho, Alaska, Washington, Montana, Oregon, New Mexico, California, Colorado and Arizona. Father Lyle was raised near Keuterville and graduated from St. Gertrude’s Academy in the class of 1949. |
