Stress Management class is free of charge
The first class of the eight week stress management series sponsored by St. Mary’s Hospital and taught by Deanna English, RN, Integrative Health Coach, will be open for everyone at no cost. The class will be held from 6:45 to 8:45 p.m. on Wednesday, September 7 at the Cottonwood Community Center. “Offering the initial class at no cost for anyone who would like to attend may encourage people to come and learn what the series is about and what we’ll be doing in the remaining classes,” said English, of Emergence, an integrative health business, offering youga and massage therapy, as well as integrative health coaching. “I will introduce the concepts of Mindfulness Based Stress management program through discussion and experiential offerings Everyone interested should bring a blanket and pillow and wear comfortable clothing.” The stress management class will follow the initial yoga class offered by Sue Lattin, CYT, that same evening, September 7, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. People are welcome to attend both or each individually. “The approaches we’ll use in class are the same ones used by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center for patients with chronic illness and chronic pain. These techniques are now being taught throughout the United States to help people lead fuller, more aware lives,” said English. “I encourage people to attend the first two hour class then make a decision about participating once they’ve learned a bit more.” Anyone needing additional information is encouraged to email English at deanna@emergence-mindfulness.com or visit her website, www.emergence-mindfulness.com Pre registration is encouraged, but not necessary to attend the first class.
