Holthaus
transitions job responsibilities
Cheri Holthaus, who has worked in the Human Resources Department at St. Mary’s Hospital since 1997, is assuming the role of SMHC Community Relations and Development Coordinator. Her new responsibilities include working with newspapers and radio stations to help publicize SMHC’s programs and services; coordinating SMHC Foundation activities; developing brochures, ads and other materials and promoting customer service with SMHC employees. She will also continue some of her responsibilities in the HR Department. “Cheri is an excellent person for this position because she is highly respected in the community, has a long history with SMH, is very organized and has a lot of skills that will easily translate to her new job description,” said Jeanette Gorman, SMHC/CVHC Community Relations Coordinator since 1998. Gorman is retiring at the end of the year. “We’re glad she was interested in and accepted the position because everyone has a great degree of confidence in her and her work ethic.” Holthaus will also assume the Development Director responsibilities from Jim May when he retires in February. “I can’t think of anyone better suited for this position because Cheri is always an integral part of the planning for our fund raisers and is very active with the SMHC Foundation,” said May. “She is already hard at work planning the Mardi Gras fundraiser we’re holding on February 25th.” She will work closely with Ashley Nygaard, an Orofino native, who will assume the same responsibilities at Clearwater Valley Hospital and Clinics in Orofino. The hospitals began partnering in 1998. As an active volunteer in the Cottonwood area, Cheri helps organize the regular community blood drives, serves on the Idaho County Fair Board and was the president of the Cottonwood Chamber of Commerce for the past three years. Her husband, Pat, and she recently completed the planning and construction of the additional condominiums on the grounds of SMH. “I am so happy that SMH gave me this opportunity; both Jeanette and Jim have taught me a lot in the areas of community relations and development; I am looking forward to all the aspects of my new job, especially getting to work more with the members of our communities,” commented Cheri. Holthaus was raised in the area and graduated from Prairie High School. She attended Boise State University and worked at Argonaut Insurance and McKinley School prior to her return to Cottonwood. When not working she enjoys camping, 4 wheeling, going to movies and reading. She and Pat have one daughter; Katie who is married to Waylon Blevins and two beautiful granddaughters; Kenzie and Macy who live in Lewiston. |
