Three
take first at Pullman
The Prairie wrestling team had 3 wrestlers take first place while the team placed third overall out of 17 teams at the Pomeroy Wrestling Tournament Wednesday, Dec. 28. The tournament was held at Lincoln Middle School in Pullman due to construction at Pomeroy’s gym. In addition Prairie had 3 more wrestlers place second and 1 place fourth. Hunter McWilliams at 120 lbs., Alex Duman at 126 lbs. and Kade Perrin at 138 lbs. took first while Tyler Ross at 113 lbs., Dally Ratcliff at 120 lbs. and Garrett Schmidt at 195 lbs. took second. Tayler Heitman at 132 lbs. placed 4th. Ross lost in the championship match to Kain Feltwell of Liberty, Wash. by pin in 1:06. In an all-Prairie final at 120 lbs. McWilliams pinned Ratcliff in 1:40. Duman pinned Rodrigo Alvarado of White Swan, Wash. in 1:24. Heitman lost a 3-0 decision in the third place match to Todd Marshall of Potlatch. Perrin won by pin over Jake Staniszewski of Pullman in 4:50. Schmidt lost by pin to Austin Reisdorph of Pomeroy in 3:28. Prairie had 113 team points which fell 7 short of second place Pomeroy. Cheney was the team champion with 152 points.
