Rehder joins lottery commission
Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter announced the appointment last week of Jim Rehder of Cottonwood to fill a seat on the Idaho Lottery Commission.  The appointment became effective on August 23, 2011 and runs through January 1, 2014.  Rehder is succeeding former Commissioner Scott McLeod of Nez Perce.
“The Idaho Lottery Commission is an excellent opportunity to serve the people of Idaho,” said Rehder. “I was looking for an opportunity associated with schools and the Lottery was a good fit to help financially support our public schools and buildings.  I'm excited to be a part of a well-run organization."
Rehder brings an extensive public and community service background to the Idaho Lottery Commission.  A graduate of the University of Idaho, Rehder worked for the Idaho Department of Correction for 28 years as an educator and as a warden.  He is a former Idaho County commissioner and served on the National Association of Counties Public Lands Committee. Rehder now works part-time with the Clearwater Economic Development Association.  In addition to his role with the Idaho Lottery, Rehder also is chairman of the Region II Mental Health Board.
“We are pleased to have Commissioner Rehder on the Idaho Lottery Commission,” said Jeff Anderson, Idaho Lottery director. “His breadth of knowledge and his involvement with his community will be a valuable asset as we continue to responsibly provide our dividends for the public schools and permanent buildings of Idaho.
Although appointed in August, finalizing Rehder’s appointment will await an Idaho Senate confirmation hearing during the 2012 Idaho legislative session.
