Blood
drive set for Jan. 31
In January, the American Red Cross is conducting a special promotion at all its fixed sites and mobile blood drives in Idaho. All presenting donors with the Red Cross will be eligible to enter a drawing to win a Kindle Fire™. There will be a total of four Kindle Fires given away across the state. According to Jane Stutzman, donor recruitment manager for the Red Cross in Idaho, “Collecting blood during the winter months is challenging. In Idaho someone needs blood every 20 minutes. The Red Cross strives to collect 1200 pints every week to meet the needs of the more than 40 area hospitals we serve. We think this promotion will encourage people in Idaho to help us meet those goals.” The drawing for the Kindle, a 7-inch tablet that play digital music, video, magazine and book services, will be held on or about February 6, 2012. The Cottonwood blood drive is January 31st from noon to 6:00. To schedule an appointment call either Brenda Kaschmitter at 962-3251 or Cheri Holthaus at 962-2327. Donor eligibility involves minimum age, weight and health requirements, and presentation of a donor card or photo ID upon donation. SPECIAL NOTE: Idaho now permits 16 year-olds to donate blood with parental permission. A Red Cross parental permission form will be required; copies of this from will be available at the blood drive. |
