The GEAR UP program funded the purchase of the material for receiving blankets which were sewn by students in the Prairie High School sewing class taught by Millie Wimer.  The students donated the blankets to St. Mary’s Hospital nursery.  The sewing class also created 23 Christmas stockings which they donated to the Cottonwood Food Bank.  The materials for the stockings were also purchases with GEAR UP funding.  GEAR UP is a six year federal grant program which provides services that will increase the number of students prepared to enroll and succeed in postsecondary education.  Every current Sophomore, Junior and Senior student at Prairie High Scholl is participating in GEAR UP 1.Each student who participates in GEAR UP is required to complete community service each year.  Pictured are Sewing Class students  at Prairie High School.
