Open Rodeo set for June 30, July 1
The world famous Winchester Open Rodeo will be held Saturday and Sunday, June 30th and July 1, at the ‘Arena in the Pines’, Winchester, Idaho. Winchester Day’s celebration will be held Saturday June 30th. Mutton Bustin and Goat Tail Tie and Untie will be both days of the rodeo with children eligible to enter both days. Silver belt buckles and added money will be awarded in all events, including children’s events. $8000 added money will be offered this year. The Winchester Rodeo is an open rodeo, which means that amateurs can compete against professionals. There are no restrictions on who can enter the rodeo. It is open to the world. The Winchester Rodeo is a professional rodeo, kid’s rodeo, Jr. Rodeo, and amateur rodeo, all in one. The Winchester Open Rodeo is a great place to take the kids and grandkids, where they can be involved in a real rodeo. Last year there were 309 contestants in 2 days of rodeo. There will be 5 days of rodeo on the Camas Prairie this year, Saturday and Sunday, June 30 and July 1 at Winchester and July 2, 3, and 4 at Grangeville. A real Cowboy Christmas. The 18th Annual Winchester Open Rodeo Queen is Shandra Madden from Grangeville, Idaho. Announcer will be Lee Daggett from Enterprise, Oregon and the rodeo this year will be dedicated to John and LaDawn Ely, the stock contractors, from Asotin, Washington.
