The Prairie Kindergarten class enjoyed an afternoon at the fire station learning about fire safety.   Mr. Holthaus talked to the kids about the importance of having a home fire escape plan and what to do in case of a house fire.  The students got to spray the fire hose and were given a tour of the fire station.  Thank you to our great volunteer firemen! Cindy Schumacher’s first graders from Prairie Elementary School recently went on their annual field trip to St. Mary’s Hospital.  The children were able to visit the Laboratory, X-Ray, the Emergency Room, the Operating Room and the Ambulance.  Hospital personnel showed them what takes place in each area.  The children even received a mini-cast on their fingers in the emergency room.  At the end of the tour the children were treated to juice and home-made cookies in the cafeteria.  The first graders and their teacher would like to thank Mrs. Cheri Holthaus for her continual support in organizing this valuable field trip each year.  They would also like to thank all of the employees who take time out of their busy day to teach the children about the hospital and the jobs they do.  We really enjoyed the tour and we always learn a lot!

Prairie Elementary first graders,  Mrs. Farnworth and Mr. and Mrs. Rambo.  The Farnworths and the Rambos treated the children to a BBQ at the City Park as winners of the Box Top contest. Students at Prairie Elementary School participate in a contest each year to see which class can collect the most BOX TOPS.  The winner of the contest this year was Cindy Schumacher’s first grade class.  The children brought in  well over 2000 Box Tops!!!   Box Tops have been collected for many years and  the money raised from the Box Tops has helped fund the new playground  equipment that will be put in place at the Elementary School for the new school year.  Mrs. Schumacher would like to thank all of the children and their families for being so diligent in collecting and sending in the Box Tops all year long!!  They sent in an amazing amount of Box Tops for one class to collect!!  As the winners of the contest, Mrs. Schumacher and the first graders would like to thank the Rambos and the Farnworths for treating them to a BBQ at the City Park .  Thank you  for all of the effort you extend each year to coordinate the Box Top collections. We  are the lucky recipients of your time and generosity.  We can’t wait to play on the  new playground equipment!! Click on the photo for a larger view.
