New
birthing bed purchased
St. Mary’s Hospital was able to purchase a new birthing bed with funds received from the Foundation Mardi Gras celebration which was held in February of this year. “We were so glad that the Mardi Gas event made enough money to purchase this bed,” commented Cheri Holthaus Development Coordinator. “It is so nice to know that all the hard work the committee put into the event paid off and we were able to help purchase a much needed item for the hospital.” In labor and delivery, staff time is at a premium. No one can spare even a few minutes to search for equipment, look for an outlet, or use complicated controls. The Affinity.4bed is designed to reduce the hassles that labor and delivery nurses face. There is no more searching for a power source with the battery backup. With battery backup the bed’s features continue to be used, including changing height and position when the bed is away from an outlet, reducing the time from “decision to incision” in critical situations. “The main reason we purchased this bed was for the comfort of the patient,” said Kathy Seubert, Directory of Nursing for SMH. “The Tempur-Pedic mattress provides extra comfort for our patients; who are our top priority. The mattress has options for pressure redistribution and superior comfort, especially on the vulnerable seat area. Not only is this bed comfortable for our patients it is also extremely nurse user friendly. The old bed we had was over 15 years old and it was just time to upgrade.” |
