Internet,
phone service disrupted
Thursday, July 19, more than 7,000 CenturyLink telephone and Internet customers lost service for nearly 6 hours after a fiber-optic cable on Shortcut Road near Craigmont was cut. Apparently the cable was sliced by a backhoe digging in the area for a road construction project. The location of the cable was provided to the construction company by CenturyLink but apparently they dug there anyway. The outage disrupted telephone, cellphone and Internet service in Grangeville, Cottonwood, Kamiah, Kooskia and Nezperce and included the 911 emergency services. The outage lasted from about 8:30 a.m. until just after 3 p.m. (This was why last week's website update was a few hours later than usual.) |
