BLM/Chamber
river cleanup set for August 18
The BLM Cottonwood Field Office is co-sponsoring a river cleanup with the Cottonwood Chamber of Commerce. BLM will supply paddle rafts, garbage bags and employees to lead folks down the river from Hammer Creek to Pine Bar on Saturday Aug 18th to clean up garbage and debris from the spring high water. The Cottonwood Chamber of Commerce will supply lunch and soft drinks for the group which will stop and eat at a beach along the river. No alcohol will be allowed. Please plan on meeting at Hammer Creek Camp Ground/Boat Ramp at 9:30 am (PST). We anticipate the 11 mile trip will take approximately 5-6 hours. If possible see if you can car pool with other people signed up and arrange for someone to drop you off at Hammer Creek and pick you up at Pine Bar around 3-4 o’clock p.m. You will be responsible for your own transportation to and from the river. BLM will educate the group about our job as river rangers, river ethics, river safety and Leave No Trace and the need for your help to keep your river clean! Trip sign up is first come first serve. You must be at least 18 years of age. Trip will be limited to the first 22 people signed up. Signup forms are available at the BLM office as well as at the Cottonwood Chronicle. Please Contact Joe O’Neill: BLM 962-3683 or fax to 962-3275 or email jfoneill@blm.gov |
