27 turn out for volleyball

Making up the varsity squad are seniors Tyler Workman, Tanna Schlader, Shelby VonBargen, Stephanie Gimmeson and Summit transfer Brooke Schumacher.
Juniors are Leah Holthaus, Cheryl Gehring, Kelsey Tidwell and Beka Bruner.
Freshman making the squad are Krystin Uhlenkott and Hailey Danly.
Schumacher and Danly both missed the Jamboree at Grangeville due to injury and illness but Prairie still did very well, managing to outscore all three opponents, Nezperce, Grangeville and Clearwater Valley.
Workman and Schlader are the only returning starters from last year’s state qualifying team. Gimmeson got a lot of action as a back row player and moves to Libero this year.
The White Pine League has been reconfigured this year with Deary and Kendrick dropping down to the Division II level and Kamiah dropping down from 2-A. Defending state champion Troy, defending league champion Genesee and Kamiah will all be tough to beat. Lapwai, Potlatch and C.V. will be the other league members this year.
Making up the JV/C squad are Keely Schmidt, Natasha Gimmeson, Talyss Lustig, Kely Heitman, Sarah Seubert, Jessi Riener, Shayla VonBargen, Abbie Uhlenkott, Holli Uhlorn, Sydney Glimp, Hannah Ross, Heidi Holubetz, Lauren Alfrey, Sierra Latimer and Summit transfers Nicole Wemhoff and Kayla Schumacher.
Cheyenne Hudson returns as head coach with Marlene Forsmann returning as JV coach. Julie Schumacher, Summit’s coach last year, will be a volunteer coach this season for the team.
