Flu
shot clinics offered by St. Mary’s Hospital
Flu vaccinations will be offered at the Kamiah Clinic on Wednesday, October 17th from 8:30 to 4:30. They will also be offered at the Cottonwood Medical Clinic on October 18th and November 1st from 8:30 to 4:00 and October 26 from 9:00 to noon. The Craigmont Clinic will provide the shots on Wednesday, October 24th from 10:00 to 3:00. Shots will be provided at the Grangeville Clinic on Monday, October 29th from 10:00 to 3:00 and at the Nezperce Clinic on November 5th from 9:30 to 12:00. According to Shari Kuther, Director of Physician Clinic Services, the clinics can bill Medicare, Medicaid and Champus so people should bring their proof of insurance cards. “We cannot bill private insurance unless the patient has verified that their insurance company will cover the cost of the vaccine. Those who don’t qualify for the above insurance should bring $35 for a flu shot and $100 if they would like a pneumonia vaccination. Costs are payable at time of visit.” People who have increased need for flu shots are those in the high risk categories including individuals over the age of 65; residents in long term care facilities, those with compromised immune systems, adults with chronic disorders of the pulmonary or cardiovascular systems; including asthma, patients with chronic metabolic diseases, including diabetes, those with kidney disease, women who will be in the second or third trimester of pregnancy during the influenza season and health care workers. The flu vaccine is now recommended for all children starting at age 6 months; not just high risk children. |
