Vs. Nezperce
Rematch of District Championship game:
It was dominated by turnovers by both teams initially but Nezperce managed to take the early lead by good outside shooting.
By the end of the first quarter Summit was trailing by 3 making the score 9 to 6. Seubert and Aleesha Arnzen scored big for their teams in the first quarter with Arnzen with 4 for Nezperce and Seubert with 4 for Summit.
Summit lead by 13 to 12 in the second quarter and that was the last lead they would have as turnovers continued to plague Summit and Nezperce kept up the pressure.
Frei scored 4 of the 5 points scored in the 3rd quarter, but Nezperce managed to score another 13 points bringing their score to 35 and Summit trailing by 17.
With 7 minutes to go in the fourth quarter Summit started a comeback with a with a pair of free throws made by Sarah Chmelik and Nezperce followed with an inbound violation allowing Abi Chmelik to make a quick two on the following inbound pass. Nezperce followed with a few baskets of their own to increase their lead to 18 pts. with 4 minutes remaining. However with continual pressure from Summit in the back court a three pointer by Frei from the outside and several baskets by Sarah Chmelik and Frei brought Summit to within 4 points with 26 seconds remaining. That would be all the closer they would get as Carpenter hit a foul shot and Summit had a turnover on the next inbound play to end the game.
Summit is now 4-3 on the season and 0-1 in league play.
